My main research lines involve studies on the tropism, pathogenesis and host responses of emerging zoonotic viruses causing hemorrhagic, respiratory and neurological diseases, including orthohantaviruses and arboviruses in a variety of in vitro and in vivo models. I have previous experience in human lung xenograft mouse models and human respiratory epithelial cultures grown at an air-liquid interface. My group has an interest in using novel models including lung-on-a-chip, vessels-on-a-chip and the BBB-on-a-chip to study virus-host interactions.
